About the Project and How It Came to Be
“A great couple came to us. They loved having family and friends over, entertaining them, and preparing meals. What they didn’t like was having to walk from the kitchen, carrying plates and bowls, food and drink, out to their patio, which had to be accessed through the dining room.” – Brenda King, designer
Our customers were looking for something unique, something that spoke to them. Ultimately ,they wanted a door that would separate their three-season sunroom from the kitchen, while allowing food and dishes to move through with ease.
“I didn’t know very much about panoramic garage doors. We’ll garage doors in general, let’s be honest. However, when I set foot into Midway Garage Doors, their team immediately made me feel at home. They listened patiently to my long list of wants and wild ideas, and then they went to work to make that dream come true.”
Custom garage doors seem out of reach for many people, who assume that “standard size” is their only option. The truth is that there’s really no such thing. We might define the size of a Single garage door as 9’x7’and a Double garage door as 16’x7’, but those are just estimates. The truth is that all garage doors must be manufactured to fit the installation requirements – they’re customized.
Garaga offers residential doors from 4 to 20 feet wide (to the nearest inch), and 6 to 12 feet high (in 1- or 3-inch increments).

- Door dimensions : 48 X 56 inches
- Model : California , with a black frame
- Window type : Clear tempered glass inside and out
- Hardware type : Dura+ with torsion spring. We made sure the torsion spring was concealed in a wooden box above the door, rendering it invisible.
- Galvanized tracks and hinges : Finished with an enamel-based black paint for a sleek aesthetic.
Motorized Options for Tiny Garage Doors
One last amazing detail – the tiny garage door we designed? It’s motorized! We opted for a LiftMaster 8500, which is a jackshaft opener designed to be installed to the side, rather than on the ceiling.
Trying to spot the opener? It’s right in front of you, but chances are good you can’t spot it. We concealed it inside a cabinet.
The tiny opener was easy to hide, thanks to its diminutive dimensions:
· Height: 16 ¼ inches
· Width: 6 inches
· Depth: 6.85 inches
One more cool feature is that despite its tiny size, the garage door opener features MyQTM, which allows the owners to open and close it, lock and unlock it, from their smartphone. How simple is that?
